Solar pumps for drinking water and agricultural use in Zimbabwe

New access to safe water sources for COSV in Zimbabwe

OffgridSun provided several solar pumping kits as part of the project “Improving Agricultural Systems and Promoting Sustainable Resource Use for Strengthening the Resilience of Lupane Communities,” which aimed to increase food and nutrition security for Lupane communities affected by climate change.

This was a project aimed at strengthening the resilience of 15,000 beneficiaries in Lupane through strengthening agricultural systems and promoting sustainable natural resource management.

At the end of the project, more than 5,000 households will benefit from improved crop and livestock production, thus increasing their food diversification. The capacity of 5 Agricultural Development Associations (ASAs) will be strengthened so that they can provide better services to farmers in the area.

The project also created new access to safe water sources through the installation of solar panel systems that will power the new water pumps.
